See Helder Guimarães perform magic for Geffen Playhouse’s “Stayhouse”

April 15, 2020 Jeff Goldsmith

One of the best evenings of magic I witnessed in 2019 was Helder Guimarães’ “Invisible Tango” at the Geffen Playhouse. The Portuguese entertainer, now an L.A. local devised an incredible show that seamlessly blended storytelling with top cardistry and illusion.

The talented magician has long attracted the attention of the film industry, has consulted for illusions in films which of course made it a no brainer as to why the Geffen’s “Invisible Tango” show was produced by Frank Marshall (Jurassic Park). In fact the night I saw it, Birdman director Alejandro G. Iñárritu was in the crowd and stayed afterwards to chat with Helder.

Now that theaters are closed across the worldwide, The Geffen Playhouse has been posting great videos each Wednesday in the aptly titled “Stayhouse” section of their site featuring Playhouse collaborators and that’s exactly how you can now see Helder perform below – plus I’ve posted a few other videos of him as well!

Of course, if you’re able to – all theatres need your support, so please consider helping The Geffen Playhouse by pledging what you can here.

I hope you enjoy Helder’s magic as much as I do~
